This dance film explores human connections between two dancers – Paul Liburd and Vena Ramphal – as they move in their own spaces. Seeing each other they begin to dance together: connecting, colliding, manipulating and conversing in movement.

Directors: Vena Ramphal and Roswitha Chesher; Cinematographer: Ole Birkeland; Sound Artist: Mukul Patel; Choreographers and Dancers: Vena Ramphal and Paul Liburd; Producer: Catherine Willmore.

Vena Ramphal’s says of the work:… the work explores various processes of selfhood in performance. My dance training in Bharatanatyam and in the contemporary karana technique inform my choreography and performance. I began working with the moving image in 2002, co-directing ‘Eye to I’ with Lucy Baldwyn. Paul Liburd who dances with me in ‘Skin’ was at the time a Principal (dancer) with Rambert. Roswitha Chesher also comes from a dance background having trained at the Laban Centre and has been making dance videos and film since 1999. She worked with Retina Dance Company for a performance project and with Danza Rota on dance videos and live performance.
