The central focus of this screening programme is the relation between the video image and (performative) bodily movement(s). The works range from the 1970s to the recent past. On the one hand, the programme includes \u2018classical\u2019 performance-based works, in which the video image functions as a kind of stage in time and space. Framing, light and basic repetitive actions often play an important role here (Abramovic\/Ulay, Jan van Munster). On the other, many of the selected works explore the technological possibilities that video offers at the level of recording and post-production. Starting from the relation between subject and camera, movement is explored in multiple ways, exceeding simple bodily gestures. Sometimes, these works deal with the fragmentation of bodily movement (Antonin de Bemels, Seoungho Cho). At other times, mass-choreographies and public events play a central role (K\u00f6ken Ergun, Yael Bartana). In some cases, the movement of the individual in space seems to have socio-political implications (Mona Hatoum, Ulrike Rosenbach). But there are also light-hearted, poetical videos that deal with subtle movements, almost invisible to the viewer (Caitlin Hulscher, Nan Hoover).<\/p>\n
