We commission, produce, exhibits and distribute ambitious, distinctive art works across art forms that break boundaries and extend the media for which they are created. Our work in commissioning for dance is closely linked to our work in exhibition and distribution; it is aimed at cultural producers/artists individually or in collaborative teams to make/produce cross disciplinary work that allows for a dance experience outside of the theatre. This work could include, but is not limited to, dance in artists’ film, short film, feature film, documentary, contemporary animation, expanded cinema, projector performance, installation, gaming, ‘new’ media or works sited in the built environment. Details of our commissioning for dance can be found at www.portlandgreen.com
The commissioning is open year-round, however it works within public funding cycles, the current one ends on 31 March 2011. Therefore all proposals submitted must be for projects which can be delivered by 31 March 2011. All applications for commissioning under this scheme must therefore be submitted by 16 August 2010. To meet this application deadline all artists should in the first instance, have contacted PORTLAND GREEN about their project by mid July, 2010.
Portland Green Cultural Projects and Animate Projects are developing a programme of activities for 2011/12 around animated dance film, including a curated touring programme of historical and new works. We are looking for proposals for a new work to be co-commissioned as part of this programme, and artists, animators and film makers working in animated dance film are encouraged to submit ideas to the Portland Green Cultural Projects commissioning programme (see above). |
